Envirosips were employed to carry out an interim inspection of the two iconic buildings perimeter soffits. These were inspected in accordnace with the manufacturers recommended criteria. Following inspection it was recommended that the soffit be removed due to the risk of loose materials falling into the public realm areas. The soffit was removed in its entirety, the site made good and safety netting erected to the underside of the strutcure, as a temporary measure, whilst the repalcement is designed, procured and installed.
In addition, the client had previously had intrusive inspections of the wall cladding carried out to assess the fire design of the facade. Unfortunately the inspecting contractor was unable to reinstate the stone panels. We therefore took a look at the existing Operations and Maintenance manual for the building, carried out a site survey and assessed what was required to safely reinstate the panels without any further damage to the facade. Replacement materials to match the existing design were procured from Germany.
A test area was successfully reinstated to the full satisfaction of the client and contract administartor Thomasons.
Costs and assistance have been offered to the client for the soffit and cladding replacement.
