Saxton Gardens underwent a substantial redevelopment back in 2007 which involved the widening of the existing concrete frame and the facade was replaced in its entirety utilising SIPS panels, high pressure laminates on a carrier system which formed unprotected cavities.
Envirosips were employed to carry out intrusive surveys of the structure alongside specialist engineers Thomasons to establish the exact through wall specification and provide a robust remedial solution.
All removal and replacement works (4000M2) were successfully carried out over a 12 month period whilst the building remained fully occupied. This was the first remedial project to commence in West Yorkshire and was a pilot scheme for the HSE inspections of combustible facades. It was also inspected throughout the construction phase by WYFRS.
The remedial works design and installation which incorporated a 3mm aluminium cladding system was inspected and certified by Premier Guarantee who placed a 20 year insurance backed warranty on the works carried out.
